I am so sick of hearing about Britney Spears being a bad mom just because a photographer is in her face 24/7.
Yes, I totally agree that it was WRONG that she drove with the baby in her lap. The other incident about his car seat wasn't rear facing is a bit much. The CA law recommends that a baby under 1 year old and under 20 lbs. face the rear; however, it's not the law, so she wasn't breaking any laws.
Then, today on CNN, I see this headline "Caught on film: Britney baby bobble feeds tabloid turmoil". She tripped over her jeans; it's not like she purposely tripped in order to drop the baby.
I feel like her first time experience as being a mother is 10X worse because of the papparazi. They need to remember that she is a first time mother, everyone has made mistakes when trying to raise a baby.
I remember when Ashley was about 6-9 months and I fell in my driveway with her. Fell meaning, down on the ground.....I reacted fast enough to use my arm to protect her head from hitting the concrete; but accidents happen.
Give Britney a break! Atleast everywhere she goes, she has him with her and she isn't leaving him with a nanny all the time.
That's why a baby that small should never be carried in your arms while you're out and about. If you fall while carrying the baby in a carrier, the baby is much safer. She's acting like her son is some kind of fashion statement. And now all the attention is causing her to behave in more dangerous ways. Oh, and driving a months old baby in a convertable with the top down in the hot sun is just mean.
Posted by: Bratney at May 19, 2006 11:29 PMShe was walking to the car, not "out and about" and flaunting it like some toy dog. Babies are meant to be held anyway, not locked in some carrier or placed in a bubble all the time. "OMG, wait! Don't take a step with that kid. Quick, put it in this box first." Besides, the first rule of babies is that they bounce. They're very resiliant. I just can't believe that the story is even newsworthy. Yet we're the ones that perpetuate it with our fascination with celebs. :)
