25 MPH??

I work downtown from 8:30-5:15 and when I get off work, the freeway is usually backed up going towards East Ridge.

If I'm in a hurry and have somewhere to be, I will go down MLK Boulevard.

Yesterday was the first day I noticed a speed limit sign on MLK. 25 MPH!!

Now, here is a road that the city turned into a 2-way street for the better. Tell me, how is that better when the speed limit is 25?

Can you imagine how the morning rush or afternoon rush would be if everyone went 25 MPH to get in and out of the downtown area?

Who's bright idea was that?!

It should atleast be 40 MPH, but that's just my opinion. Anyone know why it's only 25 MPH?

Woman to Woman Encouragement

Someone will always be smarter. Their house will be bigger. They will
drive a better car. Their children will do better in school. And their
partners will fix more things around the house. So let it go and love
you and your circumstances. Think about it. The prettiest woman in the
world can have hell in her heart. And the most highly favored woman on
your job may be unable to have children. The richest woman you know -
she's got the car, the house, the clothes - might be heartbreakingly
lonely. So, love you. Love who you are right now.
Tell yourself, "I am too blessed to be stressed."

"To the world you might be one person, but to
one person you just might be the world."

"Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet
is fighting some sort of battle."

NOTE: I got this in an email from a friend and don't know who wrote it.

Deal or No Deal?

This weekend my mom, my aunt Betty and I went to an Estate Sale for our friend Rosemary who had passed away earlier this year.

It ended up being a Yard Sale where everything was so cheaply priced. We all went our seperate ways to find that 1 great find. I saw this one necklace that was a round pendent with diamonds on it. Well, it looked real and it was only a dime, so I thought why not?

I bought several things and when I got up to pay, my grand total was $5. I was very happy with all my findings.

Later that evening, I took Ashley and Skylar to Build-a-Bear for Skylar's Birthday. As we were walking out of the mall, I stopped at a jewelry store and had the salesman look at my necklace.

He said the mount was 14K gold and the diamonds, yes they were all real, were set in 10K white gold. He couldn't give me a figure on the value; but after I told him I paid a dime for it; he said I definitely got a great deal.

Today at lunch, I stopped at a Jewelry store while I was walking and they said the necklace was valued around $150.

So, I made a GREAT DEAL!!!

Didn't keep my goal

I have 4 days left until my year of dieting tells the truth. On Tuesday when I weigh in, I have been on Weight Watchers for exactly one year.

My initial goal was 50 lbs. in a year; well, these past 3 weeks have been one big celebration after another.

1) My sister was here for a week and we ate out alot.
2) Went to my niece's high school graduation.
3) Went to my niece's baby shower. Ate plenty. (different niece)
4) My aunt has been here for the past 2 weeks. Ate out alot and picked on junk food.

I haven't been to weight watchers in 2 weeks so when I weighed in this past week, I was scared. I was very scared. I had gained 2 lbs. Not bad for everything I was binging on.

So this week, I've been walking a mile everyday and have worked out once so far. I know I can't lose 7 lbs. in 4 days, but I'm trying to lose as much as I can.

I'll let you know how Tuesday goes.

Project Deck

The next and hopefully final project on my house that I won't to complete this year is to have a deck built.

I've been toying back and forth if I want an actual deck or just have a concrete patio poured and put up a gazebo.

A couple of weeks ago, Bi-lo, had a sidewalk summer sale. They had this beautiful gazebo for $129.99. With the sale, you got 10% off of it; so I decided I wanted it and I would have a patio poured. Well, the only one Bi-lo had left was the display one and it was sold. I was so disappointed. I went home and called every Bi-lo in Chattanooga and noone had one. They didn't seem to think they would get any either.

I got over not getting one(eventually) and just decided to have a deck built.

How about Saturday, I went into Bi-lo and I saw one standing there. I spoke with the Manager and he said that it was for sale and he had a great deal for me-50% off!!!

I was so excited, I ran home and got Shane and his truck and we bought it. Well, actually, my "wonderful" mother bought it for me.

I really love it. It's really nice and pretty. I'm going to still have a deck built, but then we are going to put it on the deck. Here is how it looks right now in my backyard though.

Lovely, isn't it? I love it!!
