Today was my last day at my old job. Monday morning was going to be great with starting my new position and I was so excited!!!
I got up really early today in order to get to work by 6:30 so that I could leave at 3:00.
I left my house and proceeded to drive to Eastgate. ETA = 15 mins.
I get to work; pull in beside this very nice Chrysler 300 (one of my fav cars) and turn off the ignition. That's when it happened!!!
All of a sudden there is smoke coming out from my hood. I grabbed my purse and keys, jump out and run as far as I can from my car. I think I ran far enough away that if it exploded, I'd be safe. I call Shane and tell him my car is smoking and he thinks it could be the radiator. I stand outside about 5 mins and the smoke slowly goes down to just a minimal view of it.
I advised our guard what is going on in case someone came in saying my car was smoking. Shane was going to come look at it once he got dressed.
I went to my desk and clocked in; next thing I know someone is running to my desk saying, "Sabrina, your car is on FIRE!!!" I called 911 but someone had already called them and the fire dept. was on their way.
I quickly went outside and my car was indeed on fire. Engulfed in flames, burning and I could do nothing. I called Shane again and told him my car was on fire. He got there in about 5 mins. Luckily, none of the cars around my car was damaged. One of the cars had soot on it; but the woman seemed to think she could wash it off. Even though it wasn't my fault; I still felt bad about it.
We don't know the cause of the fire yet; however, I will meet with my insurance adjuster Monday and he will assess the damage(which it is totalled) and give me a check so I can purchase a new car. Of course, the check won't pay for the entire car..lol Below are a few pictures of my Blazer.
My February has been TERRIBLE and I just want it over.
The best description of the life of David Henley is to offer a description of the family blanket of flowers adoring his resting place. This blanket of flowers consist of 57 red roses, one for each year of marriage to his devoted wife Fleda Mitchell Henley, who preceded him in death. Nested among the bed of red roses are 7 yellow roses representing each of his seven surviving children. 1 white rose for his eldest son, David E. Henley, who preceded him in death. Adding sparkles of joy to the arrangement, just as his grandchildren added joy to his life, are 19 pink carnations representing each of his grandchildren, along with 23 white daisies representing each of his great-grandchildren bringing elegant grace to this arrangement. 11 yellow spider mums represents the great-great-grandchildren in his life. Hundres of tiny blossoms from Baby's Breath put the finishing touches to the arrangement, just as hundreds of neighbors and friends completed his life.

My papaw nicknamed me Bean when I was a little girl. Not alot of people know my nickname; but for those that do, that is where I got it from.
Growing up, not alot of people even called me that; but my papaw and some of my aunts and uncles. My mom and dad didn't call me that; but when David and Tonia, my brother and his late wife, had Ashley they started calling me Bean again. Ashley and Skylar call me Bean all the time now.
Now the reason for this story.
Shane and I had gone out last night and sometime throughout the evening, I received a voicemail from one of my sisters. I didn't listen to it, I just called her back.
She said around 1:00 pm, Saturday, Feb 18th; my papaw passed away.
My papaw was 83 years old and had been sick within the last year after he had a heart attack. He never fully recovered from that and had to be put in a Siskin Hospital.
I spoke with my aunt and she said that Friday, Siskin had called her and said his vital signs were dropping and they didn't think he would make it. My aunt said they went to see him and he had slipped into a coma; but they were able to wake him once and he tried to say something, but didn't.
She said he went peacefully.
I know he is better off being with the Lord because he was so sick; but I still miss him even though I didn't see him alot. He was my papaw and I loved him.
I will miss you Papaw and give my Daddy a great big hug & kiss when you see him.
When I got to work Friday; I had gotten up from my seat to do something and when I walked back to my desk, there it was!! My wallet. It was in the curve of my chair in this hole where the back and seat of my chair meet.
I was so relieved to find out; however, I felt so stupid. Sometimes, I think I really am a blonde.
PS: no offense to any blondes, it's just a saying
Tonight was the first snow of 2006. My mom called and told me to look outside and this is what I saw:
Today at break, a coworker and I went to Goody's to do a little shopping. Well, since Goody's is only 1/2 block from my job, I only carried my wallet and not my actual purse.
I picked up some things for my mom, a baby shower gift for work and a couple of things for myself. I got to the register to pay and paid with my credit card, put the credit card back into my wallet, took the receipt, put it in the bag, grabbed the bag and left the store.
Got back to work and was getting ready to leave and my purse felt light. Looked and my wallet wasn't there. Looked in my drawers and no wallet. Looked in my Goody's bag, no wallet.
I start to panick here....I called Goody's and they hadn't had anyone turn in a wallet.
Luckily, I had only a $1 in my wallet; but I did have my checks, check card and 1 credit card. Of course, pictures, license and membership cards to various places. I called my bank and they cancelled my check card and stopped my checks. Also, called the credit card company and they cancelled my credit card. When I spoke to the bank and credit card company, nothing had been charged on my bank card or credit card; so that was a plus.
I went back to Goody's and looked all over the register area for my wallet and found nothing. They took my name and number in case anything turns up.
I've played this over and over in my head and I know without a shadow of a doubt that I left my wallet at Goody's. I remember when I walked to my friend's truck, I was only carrying my bag. Even when I went into work and had to scan my badge; I was still only carrying my bag.
Anyway, I've ordered me a new driver's license and hopefully I will get my wallet back. I don't care if they took everything, but I want my pictures back. Most of the pictures I can replace; but I had a picture of my dad when he was in the Navy in it.
I didn't even get to enjoy getting my job because of this. Hopefully, the weekend will be better.
I got the job that I had been waiting to hear from. HR called me today around 4:00 and offered it to me and of course, I took it.
So, beginning February 27th, I will be moving back downtown in the Tivoli Building to begin my career as an e-Commerce Analyst. I'm hoping this will be my stepping stone for the 2nd half of my career. (I've been at my job for 16 years now)
I don't like to talk about work too much on here because I don't know what is "safe".
I will share this with you though. I posted for a job about 2 months ago that is exempt (meaning salaried). We are supposed to be finding out the first of next week sometime.
Cross your fingers and Wish me LUCK!!!
This lady at my work asked me if I could create a birthday invitation for her daughter's "16" birthday. She wanted it to look like a concert ticket. So, being the creative person that I am (haha); I came up with this and she loved it. She took it to Kinkos to have them print it on stock paper to make it look like a real concert ticket. I thought it turned out great!!!

Sorry, it's so small; but it blurs if I make it bigger, but you can get the general picture.
