Thinking About Baby

Shane's ex-wife had a baby today. A little boy, 8 lbs. 8 oz. Awwwww, I love babies and it makes me really want to start trying again.

I went thru fertility for a year and even though I didn't have an IVF; I did go thru a artifical insemenation. Come to think of it; if I hadn't had my miscarriage, my baby would be due in about 3-4 weeks. Okay, maybe I shouldn't have thought about that.....

Trying to have the best thing in the world shouldn't be so much pain, nor so stressful.

IVF is the process of a woman taking fertility drugs to process mature eggs; then the implant 1 sperm into each egg in hopes of fertilization. I'm not quite sure IVF is something I would want to do; well, let me rephrase that, something I could afford. Unfortunately, my insurance company doesn't pay for fertility treatment.

I'm definitely ready to have a baby this year; I just turned 39 and if I'm really serious about having a baby, now is the time to have one. I know that if it's God's will for me to get pregnant and have a baby; then that's what will happen.

Hopefully, we will have a baby by Christmas time. Prayer for me and Shane please and that God will bless us with this joy.

Colts vs Bears in Super Bowl XLI

Well, I didn't blog about the actual Colts vs Patriots game; but wasn't it a GREAT game?

Peyton was throwing good just noone was catching it. At the end where the ball was intercepted and the Colts player just laid down on the ground was priceless. I would love to go to a Colts game just to see Peyton live. I never got to see him live while he was with the Vols.

Anyway, great game and I'm sure it's going to be a great Super Bowl come Feb. 4th.

Of course, I'm rooting for the Colts; who are you wanting to win?

Soaps

When I was in high school; I was a huge fan of Soap Operas. I used to tape them and watch them when I got home. General Hospital was my favorite; but I watched all of them from Ryan's Hope to All My Children to One Live to Live to General Hosptial. I even watched a show that was on for a while called Loving.

I don't get to watch too many soaps now because I work until 5:15; but my mom watches them faithfully and sometimes when I'm home, I'll watch them and be all caught up.

Soaps.com is a great site for catch-ups and it even has some night-time soaps. I started watching Ugly Betty and it has recaps of that show too.

I'll definitely have to tell my mom about this site because she is always wanting to know the scoop and she does miss some episodes. I highly recommend this site for anyone that needs the 411.

Bears vs Saints

Ok, we just began the 2nd half of the Big game between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints....The score is now 16-14, Bears have the lead.

I'm not really a big fan of either team; but I want the Bears to win. The game I'll be glued to is tonight. Colts vs Patriots. I really like Peyton Manning so I'll be pulling for them.

I'm hoping they will go to the Super Bowl and then take the title. Actually, the game comes on in about an hour and half now. (didn't realize it was that late already....time flies when you go to Wal-Mart).

Anyway......good luck to everyone who is wanting their team to win. I'm hoping Peyton does well tonight.

Fun Cell Phones

I know I've stated before that I love gadgets and I really love new cell phones. Camera phones, MP3 playing phones, internet phones, etc, etc, etc..... I love them all.

I have my service thru Nextel/Sprint and I have to say they are probably the best cell phone service that I've had. I currently have a Motorola Vi560. I've had it for about 2-3 years now and I like but it isn't "techy" enough for me. I usually would have changed phones by now; but they are so expensive.

I really like the Motorola Z3. It's a slide phone that has features you can access when the phone is open or closed. It's a camera phone, MP3 player and a really cool phone.

Nextel doesn't have a great variety of phones but Sprint does and they sell this type of phone also. Hmmmm, a tax return and an incentive check from work are coming up in February......

Bad News

I haven't blogged about this, even though, it's been going on since last year. Shane's mother, Glenda, is very sick. Last year, she started having some problems with swelling and then some female problems also. She went to the ER and it really didn't seem like a big deal.

Well, she continued to swell in her abdomen and she'd have to go to the hospital to have it drained. This happened for about 2-3 months. She never would really say what was wrong. She told us that her liver was going bad and she had female problems; but nothing really specific.

At Christmas time, she was put back in the hospital and we finally learned that she needed a new liver and she had cervical cancer. Come to find out, she has had cervical cancer for the past 2 years and never told anyone.

About 2 weeks ago, they had to put her in a nursing home and they told us she had 2 weeks to live. I'm really still confused as to what is really wrong with her; but they keep her on morphine for the pain so she really isn't coherent when we go see her.

Shane is having a hard time visiting her because he doesn't want to remember her being in a nursing home. I understand this somewhat; but I think he should go see her.

I try to go see her once a week. I saw her last night and she didn't know who I was and she kept thinking Shane was there and saying his name. I told him this when I got home last night so he is going to see her Saturday.

So, please pray for Glenda and Shane's family during this difficult time.

Dreaming of a New Truck

Shane would love to have a new truck and when I say new; it doesn't have to be brand new, just newer than what he has. He has a 1989 Chevy S-10. It's a good truck meaning it gets him to where he needs to be without any problems. Well, it is a gas guzzler for being such a small truck.

Anyway, once Shane gets a good job at a good company(that doesn't go under or do a ton of layoffs), he will get him a new truck.

There are 2 used car lots right by our house and there's a really nice Chevy truck for sale. I'm always looking at car classifieds in hopes of finding a great deal, just in case.

He'd like another truck like a Dodge Ram or a Chevy 1500 or Silverado.

Well, hopefully this dream will come true for Shane sometime this year or early next year. A boy can dream, can't he?

American Idol

Last night was the season premier of American Idol. It's in the 6th season and it was pretty good. Pretty good meaning very entertaining.

Some of those poor kids though....I really felt bad for some of them; however, I've always wondered why they let so many bad singers in. Someone at work said they let them in for entertainment purposes. Guess it works because everyone I've come in contact with so far today watched it.

The girl that sang like the lion from The Wizard of Oz was really a bad singer; however, she did a great impression of the lion. Then there was the vocal coach that couldn't carry a tune.

I agreed with most of their choices but the girl that her boss flew her out to the audition; I really thought she sang good.

Anyway, here's the link to the video in case you missed last night's show.

It's on again tonight so just a reminder if you love IDOL!

New Year, New Bed

Ashley has a room at my house and right now, it is all wicker and white. And of course, a very girly room. When Logan comes over, he won't sleep in there and sleeps on my couch.

I'm not a fan of sleeping on couches when there is a bed available. Now, an occasionally nap on the couch is fine; but not to be used as a bed. Anyway, the point I'm making is I'd like to change Ashley's room to be a communal bedroom. I'd love to be able to get Ashley to sleep in there; which she won't either.

We've thought about putting bunk beds in there and making 1 of them girly and 1 of them for a boy. Hopefully, I'll be able to change her room this year. Kids furniture isn't cheap. For example; this bunk bed is really cute and I'd love something bright like this; but $800? Come on, it doesn't even include mattresses. I browsed around on this site and they have some great furniture that is really nice and some of the prices are reasonable. If you are in need of some furniture and live near Wilmington, NC; it would be a great place to shop. I like to actually go in and browse for furniture just to try it out. I've bought online before and you can actually find some good deals here.

Emissions Testing

It's a new year and it's that time where you have to go thru Emissions Testing once again. As long as you have a newer car, you are in the clear; however, if you have an older car, watch your wallet.

Shane has a 1989 Chevy S-10 Truck and last year it didn't pass. Several times. He ended up spending about $400 in order to for it to pass Emissions Testing. If your car was made in 1975 or before, you don't have to take the test; which is odd to me. I mean, it's the older cars that are polluting the city, not the newer ones. I think the older cars should have to take the test and newer cars, like (2000 and above) shouldn't.

Anyway, it's time for Shane's truck to be tested again. He went one day after work and sure enough, it failed. The tech at the Emissions Testing place was kind enough to suggest something that may get it to pass. RACING FUEL!! He said to just put a few gallons in his truck and run it for about 15 mins before he comes back for the re-test. He said 90% of the people he suggests this to, comes back and passes.

Racing fuel is $5.99 a gallon; so Shane only put $8 in his tank. He ran his truck hard and went for the re-test. He passed!!!! That was such a relief on both of us.

I think someone should rethink the Emissions Testing. I mean just because he passed doesn't mean his truck never pollutes.

Celebrity News

I am a huge fan of gossip magazines...I'm just a sucker for them. I love any type of gossip about celebrities.

I'll admit I watched Britney and Kevin's reality show before they got married. I like Britney Spears and follow what's going on with her. I was ecstatic when her and Kevin split up. I was more ecstatic when I heard one of Justin Timberlake's songs on his new CD and thought, "OMG, that song is about Britney".

Today, Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz officially announced their split. Hmmm...I just wonder if it's about Britney.

Also today, Britney took Sean Preston to a pet store and he picked out a Bulldog. How cute.

Well, check out Celebrity Gossip by Derek Hail. He's got a ton of gossip about a variety of celebrities. Good reading if you are into this kind of thing; which I am.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday....YEAH!!! I love birthdays. My boss brought me a cake to work and it was so good. I kind of blew my diet today; however, I can still lose weight by Tuesday.

Shane, Mom, Ashley and I went to Amigos for dinner tonight to celebrate. It was good also.

My sister sent me some money, my mom got this me this great Ottoman-Coffee Table. I love it!!! It goes great in my living room. Ashley got me a card and Shane got me a card, vacuumed the house and did the dishes. I was shocked but happily surprised.

Anyway, my birthday will be over in 3 hrs. 18 mins.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Puppies For Sale

No, Diesel isn't for sale...Never, no way, not in a million.
Neapolitan Mastiff puppies are so cute and they are a part of the Bulldog family. They are so precious, all wrinkly and just down right adorable.

Again, I wouldn't trade Diesel in a million years; but these fellows are so cute. Check out the site if you are interested in an adorable puppy. These puppies come from Champion Bloodlines and are actually listed as their color is BLUE.

A D O R A B L E!!!!

What a great Christmas (late) or Birthday present for somebody.

39 and Holding

Friday, the 12th; I will be 39. I don't really mind birthdays because I have never felt my age. The only birthday that has bothered me was my 25th. Don't ask me why?......it just did.

Now when people ask me my age, I can use that old line of "39 and Holding". What exactly am I holding though?

Last night, we went to Sticky Fingers for a pre-birthday dinner and it was quite delicous.

Tomorrow at work, we will have a Goodie Day and there will be cake!!! I love birthday cake.....but I have to eat in moderation as I'm back on my diet. I was off my diet for the Holidays and gained 5 lbs; however, this week I lost 6.2 lbs.

I'll be 39 and trying to get healthy so that when tomorrow comes next year and I turn 40; I'll be in the best shape of my life and loving 40!!!

Rating my Performance

I work for a very large well-known company and I've worked there going on 17 years now. Wow, that's a long time....

Anyway, in the 17 years, I've probably had about 6 bosses. Each year, we get Performance Reviews. Since I've never worked at another company that does this, I really have nothing to compare them to, but they seem to be okay and semi-fair.

I know the reviews we receive now are a lot different than the reviews we used to get. They used to be lengthy and not say anything but your basic review lingo; now they are just short and sweet. Mark a few boxes and maybe add a sentence or two.

My yearly review comes up at the end of March; which I will probably receive sometime in April or May. I wonder how many other companies do a standard review and is your review always late?

Football Parlay Update

When I got to work yesterday morning, we had an email stating the update on our little Football Parlay.

I was in a 3-way tie for 2nd place and the guy that was in 1st place had it in the bag. At the time of the update, there were 5 games left and everyone had picked the exact same teams so he won; not me.

I was proud that I did good though...I mean 2nd place is good, right?

Well, I will continue to watch the last 3 games to be played; especially the big one....Florida vs Ohio State.

Note: I did win LSU last night, so my record is 20-9. Pretty good for a girl.

Great Deal = Mom's Birthday Present

I love a great deal and I love finding them. I get all excited and just think it's so great when I find a great deal.

Well, let me back up a little. My mom is the type of person that when you ask her what she wants for Christmas or her birthday, she always says, "Don't get me anything; I don't need anything". Well, this past Christmas, she said that and you know you hate to not get her anything; so I got her a wireless door bell. Her house has never had a doorbell and sometimes she doesn't hear if someone knocks on her door. She loved it too!!!

Well, her birthday is in March and once again, I have to rack my brain to think of something that she would really need. My mom has never had a cell phone and I really think she needs one. She travels a a lot and I want to get her at least a prepaid one.

So, here I go looking on the internet for the best deal. On dealking.com, Cingular has a prepaid Go Phone for just $29.99 a month and you get $20 cash back when you go thru dealking.com. I know she doesn't need anything elaborate or a lot of minutes. This is definitely something to think about in the next month for her.

NCAAF BCS Bowl Games

At my work; the guys get together each year and do a Bowl games parlay. Well, this is my first year with this department and I asked, "Why didn't you ask any of the girls if they want to play?" They didn't think anyone would be interested. Well, I was. There are a total of 32 Bowl games. I brought my sheet home and Shane helped pick the "winning teams".

My boss sent out an updated email and showed where you were at and who was winning after 8 games. Well, guess what? I was tied for first with this guy. Now there are only 3 games left and today will be my first day at work since this all started and I'm anxious to see where I fall now. My record is 19-9. Pretty good for a girl.

The remaining schedule is Saturday, W. Michigan plays Cincinnati, then Sunday, it's Ohio and Southern Miss; but the big game that Shane and I are looking so forward to is ffa.gif vs oob.gif.

I'm hoping by the time this is all over with; my record will be 22-9 and I will win this. How great would it be to have bragging rights over about 6-10 men that you work with?

I'd love it!!!

Payperpost Blog

I haven't really been doing too many PPP entries lately. For one, I feel like I'm too busy to even check what's available and secondly, I'm working 2 jobs so by the time I get a chance to see what's available; everything is taken.

PPP has their own blog, written by the staff of PPP and you can find great information, news, etc. that you may have missed out from being too busy; like myself.

Their blog lets you know what PPP has been doing and lets you know who won what contest that they were offering and just various news. Some of the entries are serious, funny, enlightening and just good reading. There are even videos that will make you smile/laugh.

Check it out if you are interested in learning more about PPP or just ready to read a new blog.

Happy New Year

It's 2007 and the start of a new year. I have about 2 weeks left at my "seasonal" job and am undecided about whether I want to work there on a part-time basis. Of course, they have to offer me the job; but I don't see why they wouldn't.

Shane is still looking for a job and he hopes to have one within the next 2 weeks. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers that Shane will find work.

I turn "39" next Friday and not sure how I'm going to feel about being 1 year closer to the BIG "40!!

I start back on my diet tomorrow morning and my goal is to lose another 50 lbs. this year. I've been off of my diet for about 3 weeks now. I really saw no point in trying to be good during the holidays. I have been working out though. A friend of mine at work and I joined Curves and have been going for the past 2 weeks now. I really enjoy working out there because it's just a quick 30 min workout. At first, I didn't think you'd even sweat doing their workout; but trust me, you sweat.

Today is my last day off from my real job and I'm doing laundry and I'll be all set and ready to get back to work tomorrow and get this year started with a bang.

I hope you all had a Happy New Year and may your year be filled with love, joy, peace and happiness.
