Blogging about The Family

I've been collecting coke points for a while now and the main reason to have something for our family to do. So far, we've seen a ton of movies, thanks to Coke and Blockbusters and we've even gone to Six Flags thanks to those points.

I don't have anything specific in mind that I'm working towards; however, if you have any caps or points from 12-packs that you don't use, please email me the codes to shenley9@comcast.net.

My family will greatly appreciate any and all codes and they will be put to great use. Thank you in advance to all that send to me.

66 More Days

66 more days until my Wedding....I'm so excited!! Next week, the invitations get mailed and just buying some last minute things and everything will be done. I still need to get some favors and the Wedding party's gifts and all will be done.

My mom still has to get her dress but I think we are going to go to the JcPenny Outlet down in Atlanta to look for that. Mom is on her way to Boston and New York next week, but we still have plenty of time to shop for her dress.

I can't believe how the days seem to be going so slow, even though I know the time is passing faster than I think. I know come Monday, it will be exactly 2 months until the Wedding, it just seems like August 30th will never come to me.

I know once that day is here, I'll be like, "Oh no, I'm not ready"...lol No, I'm pretty much ready to say, "I do" and get on with the Honeymoon.

Shower at Work

This afternoon, we had our first Wedding Shower. It was really nice and we got our luggage set (shown below), cd alarm clock and money for our honeymoon fund.

We really enjoyed it and appreciated everything my work did for us.

Next shower, July 12th.

New (Used) Scooters

electricscooter-946-purple.jpgelectricscooter-946-orange.jpg

I'm a member of the Chattanooga Freecycle Group on Yahoo and it's a place where people give away things they don't need in order to keep them out of the landfills. It's also a place where you can get pretty neat things. I've only used it twice before, once to give something and once to get something.

Yesterday, I noticed an ad that stated, "2 Electric Scooters in Ooltewah". The ad then went to say that the scooters stopped working but they may be easily fixed. Shane's dad can build a car engine and fix a lawn mower engine so I called him to see if he thought he could fix these and his reply was, "Get them!".

Today, Shane and I went to Ooltewah and picked up the scooters. They are really nice looking, just hoping we can get them up and running for the kids.

You should try the Freecycle Group; it's a pretty neat thing and you may find something you need or need to give away.

Hospital Again

Diesel is at the ER again. Yesterday afternoon, he had 3 seizures, one of them on the way to the ER. I will be able to get him after noon today. He was doing so well on just 1 pill a day; however, I feel like he now will have to stay on 4 pills a day. They said there is another medicine, Potassium Bromide, that he can take with his phenobarbital that will help with the seizures and eventually reduce the phenobarbital that he has to take.

Please pray for him and hopefully things will get better.

Home Repairs

I have a full unfinished basement and I've noticed over the last 2 weeks that there has been water in my basement. At first, we thought it was from the master bath's toilet but one morning after eating cereal, I noticed this white substance in the water. The milk from my cereal...so then I knew it was from my kitchen sink.

My mom had been having some plumbing problems and found that most plumbers charge around $70/hr. I surely can't afford that, so I went looking in the classifieds and found an ad for a handyman. I called him on Friday night around 7:00 pm and he came out then to find the problem and give an estimate and all for FREE!!! We found the hole in a pipe and he said he would be back on Saturday to fix it for about $40.

He was a really nice man and very professional and did a great job. Everything was fixed and no more leaks. I wanted to share his name and number/email with everyone in case you need a handyman. He said his specialty is remodeling, but he does odd jobs on the side.

The company is Bentley's Handyman Services and his name is Tracy. His number is 423-316-3728. Give him a call if you need any work done, I think you'll be pleased with the service.

It's always nice to find someone willing to you help you and not feel the need to rip you off.

Creative Discovery Museum

I don't get many chances to do "play dates" as I don't have any children; however, there are some times I get to with Ashley. Tonight, I'm taking Ashley and Skylar to the Creative Discovery Museum and my sister-in-law, Stacy and her son, Noah are going with us. My friend Sandra and her two daughters, Nina and Amelia are meeting us there too. I'm so excited to have my first "play date" with kids and adults.

Every second Thursday of the month is Free Family Night at the museum. It's from 5:30-8:00 pm and totally free.

I can't wait to see the new Clifford exhibit; I just hope it's not too crowded with Riverbend going on. Hopefully, everyone will be at Riverbend and not the CDM.

Maybe I'll see you there and just never know it.....

Watching My Weight, AGAIN!!

Even though my wedding dress fit(a little snug); I still could stand to lose 20 lbs before the Wedding. I could stand to lose more than that; but for the wedding, 20 lbs will work. Don't want to have my dress altered.

Mom and I started Weight Watchers two weeks ago and so far, I've lost 7.2 lbs. 13 lbs. to go in two months....I know I can do it...Wish me luck!!!

Family Happenings

Today is one of my nieces, Skylar, birthday. She is 8 years old. I am planning on taking her and Ashley to see Kung Fu Panda with my friend, Sandra and her 2 daughters tomorrow.

I think it will be a really cute/funny movie. This week has been really busy. Of course, working then both mine and my mom's sink has been dripping, so Shane replaced both of our faucets(kitchen and bath). A huge branch fell off one of my mom's trees in her front yard, so me and her cut it up last night and piled it up for our trash guys to pick up.

Diesel gets his stitches out tomorrow morning and I'm hoping he doesn't have a seizure the minute he realizes we are going to the vet. He gets really nervous when we go to the vet and it just worries me.

That's about all that has been going on in my world this week; TGIF!!!!
