Just wanted to keep you updated on Diesel and his health. Since Feb., he has had only 1 seizure and I think we finally figured out what happened. We have always given him the 94 cent bag of treats from Walmart(not Walmart brand), but we are now thinking we were giving him too much and whatever was in it; was making him have seizures.
He no longer gets those treats anymore; he does still get bone treats though. We have taken him down to just 1 pill a day and he seems to be doing fine. After a month of being seizure free; we'll see what the vet says about it and how to wean him off the meds.
I'm so happy that we've finally figured out what was wrong with our baby and he is getting better and can live a good healthy life.
If anyone gives their dog the Canine Carry Out Treats; beware of over feeding.
NOTE: I finally got around to putting some updated photos out on my flickr page.
They are mostly of the kids and Diesel playing around at the St. Elmo Playground and up at Cloudland Canyon.
Today is Ashley's Birthday Party; she will be 11 years old on Tuesday, the 22nd. We are having her party down at the Walker Pavilion at Coolidge Park. When I woke up and looked at outside, I saw that it was raining...booooo!
I don't know if it's actually raining or had been raining; but nevertheless, we will not let a little rain damper our party spirits.
Just so happen, Logan is here too. He was already down here for a family matter(mom's side), so that was good for us. He'll get to go to the party with us today.
It's funny, this year, the gifts Ashley ask for have changed. It's no more toys. The gifts have turned into things that BIG girls want. Purse, shoes, clothes....she's a girl after my own heart (which she already owns).
Shane and I did buy Logan and Ashley a gift together and then they will get an add'l individual gift on each of their birthdays. We bought them Rock Band for the XBox 360. It's really a family game because all 3 of us can play it and we love it!! Great game for that family night.
I hear the birds singing outside; so let's pray it will be a beautiful day!!
This is just a little fun but definitely harder than I thought. How many can you name? There are 238 colors total.
It has been going on 7 weeks since Diesel had his last seizure and another thought hit me last week.
When we first got Diesel, we were giving him these treats about 4-5 times a day. Well, recently, I haven't been buying these treats and when I do; I only give him about 3 of them maybe twice a week. So, I'm on a mission now. I've reduced Diesel's medicine to 2 times a day(was on 4 times a day) and so far so good. I let the vet know about my theory and he agreed with me that it could be the treats.
I just gave Diesel the last of his treats(3 pieces) and will be monitoring him to see if I see any signs of seizures. My neighbor brought up the fact that these treats have a lot of sugar in them; so that got me and mom thinking, "I wonder if he was having a diabetic attack when he was having his seizures?".
Well, keep Diesel in your prayers as we would love to be able to know what causes these seizures and hopefully, one day, get him off his meds and him be 100% healthy again.
When I first read the story about the "pregnant man", my first thought was this has to be a woman who is a trans gender and sure enough; that's what he/she is.
This morning, on People.com, I saw this headline "PEOPLE & Oprah Exclusive: The Pregnant Man Speaks Out". It really bothers me that everyone is just in awe that a man could be pregnant.
I have nothing against trans genders because it's their choice to be the sex they feel inside. My problem is that it's not rocket science to figure out how a man became pregnant and how the media is acting like it's some miracle that a man's pregnant.
He was born a woman and still has woman organs, that's how he got pregnant.
It's not a man pregnant, it's a woman pregnant who happens to be a trans gender.
