Last night, Shane and I watched Cloverfield. I really didn't care anything about seeing it for various reasons.
1. I heard it wasn't all that great
2. I heard/read it was a lot like The Blair Witch Project
The 2nd reason was enough for me...I can't stand that moving around constantly that you get from the person in the movie video taping what's going on. When I saw Blair Witch Project, I was dizzy by the time I left the movie.
Well, thanks to Coke Rewards, we always get a free movie at Blockbusters.
Anyway, the movie is about these 5 friends that threw another friend a Going Way Party and some alien, monster, etc. takes over New York City and they are trying to escape.
DO NOT pay money to rent this movie; it isn't good and my review of it gets a D. Not interesting at all, very lame to me.
Today, we are going to see Iron Man and I have a feeling I'm going to like it a lot better than Cloverfield. I'll let you know, there is supposed to be a spoiler in the credits.
Mr. Brooks is a suspense thriller about a "man of the year" who is a serial killer played by Kevin Costner. He is addicted to killing. He has an alter ego played by William Hurt. We get to see into the mind of a serial killer - why and how he does things.
There are four subplots.
1. and 2. Involves a cop played by Demi Moore and her divorce, and another involves an escaped convict she is trying to apprehend. She is also trying to figure out who the thumb print killer is.
3. Brooks' daughter, who is involved in a murder at her college - I won't go into any spoilers.
4. A young guy joins Brooks in a killing, just for the rush - why you will have to find out.
The movie is very devious, and there are some plot twists...but overall this is a very suspenseful, well acted, and entertaining film. They definitely left it open for a sequel. I have found that critics review really don't reflect the true movie and normally if they score a movie bad; it ends up being a great movie.
So with that said, I give this movie an A+. A really must see movie if you love thrillers.
Last night we went and saw Pirates 3. What really fascinating me was where we saw it.
We went to a drive-in!! Yes, I saw a drive-in. It's called Wilderness Drive-In located in Trenton, GA. Shane was skeptical at first because he didn't know how the sound would be. He thought those speakers that hook on your window wouldn't be very good quality. I told him, "You know technical has changed since drive-ins used to be popular; maybe they will have something better".
It only took about 25 minutes to get there from East Ridge and very easy to find. The admission price was only $5/person; which I thought was very reasonable. At the gates, Shane asked about the speakers and they told us that now you just set your radio to a certain station and you hear the movie right in your car with no separate speaker. I told him technology had changed.
Anyway, the quality of the movie was great, the sound was great and the actual movie was really good too. I give it a B+.
Oh yea, the drive-in is a double feature so you get 2 movies for the price of 1. If you've never been to a drive-in; you really should go. It's a fun experience.
Last night Shane and I went to see The Departed. First of all, let me say that I didn't know it was an All-Star Cast. I was surprised by everyone in it. I love Jack Nicholson.
Anyway, overall it was a very good movie. Good story line and a shock ending. I won't go into details about the actual movie for those that haven't seen it; but I will suggest seeing it.
Leonardo DiCaprio played a different role than he is used to playing and he was great in it. The entire cast was great. Lots of drama and suspense, keeps you anticipating the next move. I even screamed once.
I love drama, comedy, romance and horror movies. Drama and Horror tie for first place in my book though.
Again, I suggest you see this movie; it's really good. If you go see it, let me know what you think.
Shane is a huge comic book movie fan and I like them also; so when he saw that Ghost Rider was coming out soon, he was excited to see it.
GHOST RIDER stars Nicholas Cage as Marvel superhero Johnny Blaze. I love Nicholas Cage so I'm sure the movie will be great!!

Last night, Shane, Ashley and I went to see Facing The Giants. Shane didn't know it was a Christian movie until the movie theater got so crowded, I reminded him not to curse about anything. He was like, "Is this movie going to be a sellout?" I told him that alot were probably church groups; he then got the picture.
Anyway, back to the movie review. This was a great movie and I would recommend it as a family night out date; especially if you have kids.
In one my previous blogs, I gave the giest of the movie. However, this movie hit home in so many homes. His wife had been trying to get pregnant for 4 years and never could. That just added one more situation in his life that he didn't understand how God could do that to them. I've been trying going on 3 years and that is a question I ask myself all the time. How could God not let me have a baby when I so desperately want one and would be a good Mother?
The movie was definitely made by the faith of people. It really makes you think, "Do I really have faith in God?". I mean I think I do, but do I really?
It's a tear jerker if you can relate to the movie; which I'm sure there's a part in the movie that everyone can relate to at one point.
After we got home, I was outside with Diesel and I just stood there talking to God. I do understand there's a reason why I it's so hard for me to get pregnant and I'm trying really hard to accept that. I love God no matter if I have children or not and have never hated him for that. Whatever way is God's way for my life to be, I'll accept it and make the best of it.
I haven't been to church since I was in junior high school and I have thought about what church to start going back to; just haven't made an effort yet. But that's going to change now.
My mom and a friend went to see Facing The Giants today. This is the details for the movie.
In his six years of coaching, Grant Taylor has never had a winning season. Even the hope of a new season is squelched when the best player on his Shiloh Eagles decides to transfer schools. After losing their first three games of the season, the coach discovers a group of fathers are plotting to have him fired. Combined with pressures at home, Coach Taylor has lost hope in his battle against fear and failure. However, an unexpected challenge finds a purpose bigger than just victories. Daring to trust God to do the impossible, Coach Taylor and the Eagles discover how faith plays out on the field--and off. With God, all things are possible.
I got this from Yahoo.
My mom said it was the best movie she has seen in a long time and recommended me to go see it. I plan on taking Ashley to see it also.
Has anyone seen Facing The Giants and what was your thoughts?
My favorite genre of movies is a great Horror flick. I love being scared like that; just sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for the next big scare. However, I love a great comedy too. National Lampoon DVD Club of the Month gives you just that.
When you sign up, you get a new hilariously funny DVD for less than $5 and you get to keep it. No returns, no late fees.
Some of the movies seem so stupid they are probably just so funny, you'll be crying from laughing so hard. If you've ever seen Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle; you'll know what I mean.
This club sounds like a good thing and a great way to increase your DVD library.

As you know, the new Harry Potter movie came out last Friday. I had to wait and see it because it's a family tradition that we go see the new movie on Thanksgiving when my sister is here. So, I had to wait; hoping I wouldn't hear or see anything about the new movie and the plot line.
We went to see the movie last night. I think I was too anxious to see it that it kind of let me down; at first.
More towards the end of the movie is where I really started getting into it. It was a very good movie and I would definately recommend you seeing it.
I won't go into any specific details about the movie so that I don't spoil it for anyone else. I will say that I hope the original cast makes it thru the last 3 movies. They are growing up too fast!!!
