Fitting of the Tux

Saturday, I went to pick out which tuxes and then the guys were fitted for them. I was a bit disappointed because they didn't have the same shade of pink that matches my bridemaid's dresses, but we got it figured out and I can't wait.

Just about 90 more days until the Wedding. Everything is done and now it's just time to begin having some showers!!!!

Let the fun begin!!!

DIY Invitations

Being the crafty person that I am, I was going to hand make my Wedding Invitations. I bought all the supplies and had my plan all drawn up and then decided I really didn't want to put that much time in making invitations when I have so much other stuff to do; so I went with Do-it-yourself(DIY) Invitations. It also helped with our AC Moore store went out of business and had them on sale($3.50/box).

This morning, I got up when Shane went to work and got ready and went to the 7:30 Mass with my mom. After Mass, we went to breakfast and then came home. I decided that now was a good time to start/finish my invitations.

They were easy to print; however, putting them together is another story. I think I have a total of 7 completed. I do have the reply cards and envelopes together and in the main envelope and I put address labels on the reply envelopes to make things a little easy on my guests.

I have another 2 months before I mail the invites so I know I'll be finished in plenty of time.

Caterer is finished and thing only thing left to purchase are favors and pew bows.

Let's Meet The Caterer

There are only 120 days left until our Wedding, exactly 4 months from yesterday. I never thought it would get here....I know 4 months is still a while, but it is going by rather quickly.

Friday, Shane and I meet with the Caterer at Panera Bread. I can't wait...oh, that reminds me I need to print a picture of the groom's cake we want. I mean, Shane wants.

Anyway, I'm really starting to get excited about this...I finally bought my garter belt this past weekend in Kentucky. It matches my dress to a T. Only thing left for us to buy is favors and corsages/boutineres. (not sure of the spelling but spellcheck didn't catch it-so I'm good)

Well, I will definitely keep you updated on the Wedding and what's going on.

Next, BRIDAL SHOWERS!!!!

Fit or No Fit??

My goal this year was to loose 30 lbs before my Wedding in August. Well, I started Weight Watchers and I've lost 60 lbs on it a couple of years ago; but I had gained about 20 lbs back. To be honest, I haven't been doing well on WW this time...I just can't get motivated to stick to the diet.

For some reason, every time I go to exercise, I gain weight. I've been doing water aerobics 3x week for the past 2 months and it isn't helping me loose any pounds. I can tell a difference in my waist line but not in how much I weigh. My arms are getting muscular and I don't want to look like a man in my Wedding Dress.

I've lost 8 lbs in 2 months and that is not good according to my dieting standards. Today, for fun, I decided to try on my Wedding Dress. I thought to myself that if it was too tight that would get me motivated since I only have 5 more months until the BIG DAY.

Well, I tried it on and Mom was able to zip it with no problems and it actually felt good around my waist. I still need to loose 10 or 20 lbs in 5 months...I mean it's only 4 lbs a month for the 20.

Wish me luck on my diet and I think I'm really going to try really hard to loose this weight.

Puerto Rico, Here We Come

Shane and I booked our Honeymoon today. We are going to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

We are going to be staying at the Condada Resort and Casino.

We are staying in the Ocean Vista room and the place is just absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to be there and just enjoy the atmosphere. We'll be leaving that Sunday after the wedding and coming home the next Saturday.

Included in our package is a tour of the Bacardi Rum Distillery. My favorite liquor.....in my favorite drink, Pina Colado.

Don't be too jealous when you check out the resort....I'll be sure to think of you while I'm there..haha

Surprise Wedding Poll

Okay, this may come as a HUGE surprise to people that know me; but my mom and I were talking about Shane and I get married out of town. We discussed Las Vegas and Hawaii. I'm big on family and getting married out of town can be a bit expensive unless you are just super rich; which none of my family is.

So, I turn to you to ask.

Wedding Venue
Would you consider getting married out of town with a few family members?
Definitely!
Maybe?
NO WAY!
Depends on who could go

My Crown

Along with my wedding dress; I'll be wearing a tiara. David's has a beautiful line of tiaras that come with a not so beautiful price tag. Since I'm a huge ebay shopper; I turned online to find my tiara.

My mom bought my wedding dress; so I don't feel like she should have to buy my accessories also. I found my shoes on ebay at a GREAT price and just this week, I found my tiara....only thing left as far as accessories is my veil. Below is the pics of my tiara and my shoes I found.

1st Bridal Show

Sunday, I went to my first Bridal Show at the Chattanooga Convention Center. It was really fun and the food was wonderful. I ate probably a combined total of 1 piece of wedding cakes; made up from about 5 sample pieces. There were a lot of vendors there with some beautiful ideas for your wedding.

They had two different fashion shows and one was from David's Bridal and my dress was in the show. It really is beautiful. After Hours formal wear had a cash booth there that you stood in and caught coupons. I did it and won another free tuxedo for my wedding party. Shane gets his tux free and then we get another one free; so I'll use that for my nephew, Jason who is giving me away. So, we will just have to rent Logan one.

I got a lot of little samples from the show and came home with a bag full of things. The first 100 brides to be in the door won a free gift for the groom. I was kind of disappointed that the bride didn't get a gift; but when I saw what it was, I laughed. It was a book for Shane called, "The Idiots Guide to Being a Groom". hahahaha

I had fun and Shane laughed at the book also and even read a few pages.

Invitations Part II

I finally finished the design of my invitations and have a sample printed. I really like them and that's just one less thing I have to worry about it next year.

I'm getting really excited about the entire wedding event and more so, the
Honeymoon. We want to go to Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They sent me a brochure and it's just Heaven....and I mean pure Heaven.

Well, just 357 more days until we say, "I Do!"

Invitations

Today, I decided to make some sample invitations with the supplies that I have and the outcome wasn't what I really wanted.

I just made one sample and I really don't know how to attach the vellum paper to the background paper; so if anyone has any idea how this works, please let me know.

I know the wedding is still a year away; but this is exactly why I like to plan things early. In case things don't go the way I want.

I may go to Kinkos and see if they can do all the printing for me on my supplies.

For now, I won't stress over it; but it does bother me that they didn't turn out like I wanted.

Contests

When I registered at David's Bridal; I can only assume that they pass your information around to different businesses to help you with your wedding. I have had several calls from After Hours Formalwear for the tuxedos. I explained that my wedding is still over a year away and I'm not interested in worrying about the tuxedos quite yet.

I think they must also put your name in contests to win things because yesterday I received a call from someone at Mary Kay stating I had won a free makeover and a bag full of goodies. So, tomorrow at 6:00 pm; my mom and I will go get my free makeover and learn all about the correct makeup for my skin color, face shape, skin type, etc, etc, etc.

I'm excited about it because I rarely wear makeup; however, I love getting made up by a professional.

I love winning things too!!! When I come up, I'll take a picture and post it of my free makeover so that you can see how it turned out.

Maid of Honor/Bridesmaid Dress

If you know me, you know I love eBay. I love shopping on it and I can normally find a great deal. Well, with my wedding, I turned to eBay again.

I got a great deal on my invitation paper and an even better deal on my Maid of Honor/Bridesmaid dresses. My colors are going to be chocolate brown and pink. I'm only having my Maid of Honor, Mariel and then one bridesmaid, which is Ashley. I just needed two dresses alike and in the right size. Well, I found them on eBay and they are absolutely beautiful.

The description didn't say they were from David's Bridal; but when I got them, they were!!!!

Did I say how much I love these dresses?

Updates

Even though my wedding is a year away; I've been busy planning. I designed my own invitations and got a great deal on eBay. I was able to get exactly what I designed and can't wait to actually make them.

I found my bridesmaid dressed on eBay and got an EXCELLENT deal on two of them. I'm only have my maid of honor(Mariel) and then a bridesmaid(Ashley).

The tuxes will be rented so I really don't have to worry about them anytime soon. I have someone that is going to make my cakes; so that is taken care of also.

All I have left is where the wedding will take place and the reception. I get my dress out of layaway in a month.

Oh, I do have the flower girl dress and my headpiece and veil left to get. Shane's stepmother is doing my flowers so that's all set to.

Now, just if August 30, 2008 was near.

Overwhelming Day

This morning, mom and I went to yard sales and then went to Panera Bread to eat. While at Panera's, which just happens to be by David's Bridal, we decided to just go in and "window" shop.

Seeing as this is my first and only wedding; I didn't know you couldn't just walk in and try on dresses. You have to register and then you have to meet with a consultant, pick out 3 gowns and then try them on.

The trying them on part was very OVERWHELMING. I mean here I was in a standard size dressing room with 3 wedding gowns and myself in it. First one I tried on was a little big(always a good feeling) and was pretty but didn't talk to me. The second one I tried on fit just right(well a little big in the breast area) and definitely said, "Buy me, I'm the one". I went ahead and tried on the third one to make sure and then tried on the second one again.

The trying on of four dresses and then parading out in front of everyone and what felt like 50 floor length mirrors was a bit much. Of course, then they made you up with your headpiece and veils. By the time we left there, I was so relieved to have made it out alive.

Needless to say, I have my wedding dress picked out and in layaway. I absolutely love it and I love my mom for being by my side. She's the best!!!

Invitation Ideas

I haven't really blogged much this week because I really don't have much to talk about.

The wedding is still over a year away, so it's not like I can give you much details about it. It's still too early to be planning; but don't get me wrong, I have ideas; just too early to make them happen.

I do have a question/request for anyone and everyone who reads my blog.

I want my wedding invitations to be different, unique, wild, etc. For example, if you get married on the beach; a unique invitation is doing your invitation as a message in a bottle. Things like that are what I'm looking for.

Since I'm not getting married on the beach, I want something different. I searched the web and I did find a really cute idea. You make your invitation to look like a movie ticket. Cute, but I'm sure done before.

If anyone has a great imagination; I would welcome your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Date

We have set a date for the wedding. It will be August 30, 2008. I have picked out a dress; however, due to the fact of Shane occasionally reads my blog; I can't give you any details on it.

More details to follow.

I just realized, next year is a leap year!!! And we are definitely making a BIG leap.

The Proposal

As you may know, we just got back from our family vacation from Orlando, FL. We got back around 4:30 am Monday morning and of course, all immediately slept.

Later that evening after everyone was gone and it was just me and Shane; he brought out the ring. He then preceded to tell me that he carried it in his pocket to every place we went in Florida waiting for the perfect time to propose.

His plan was to propose while we dined with Shamu; however, it was so hot and everyone was so tired from all the walking, I decided against dinner with Shamu. Chance #1 ruined.

Next, we were going to a Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater and he planned on proposing there also. We were running late so he didn't get a chance to talk with anyone beforehand. Chance #2 ruined.

So, after he told me all this; he got jumped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes. He then said, "The reason I'm still down here is because that hurt like heck and I can't get up!".....hahaha

And that's how Shane proposed to me.
